About Connie

Connie_Haines_Hutchinson, a Herndon native, is serving her fourth term on the Herndon Town Council.  First elected to the council for the 1992-94 term, she was reelected in 1994 and 2002 and was a candidate for Mayor in 2004. 

During Hutchinson’s tenure, the Town completed the Herndon Municipal Center, the Fortnightly Library, the Town Green and Municipal Parking Garage, and the Council Chambers.  She was also involved in the development of Herndon Harbor House, Haley M. Smith Park, the Herndon Parkway and the Station Street parking lot.

Prior to her council service, Hutchinson served on the Town’s Architectural Review and Heritage Preservation Review Boards.  She has been actively involved in many community and youth sports programs in Herndon, serving on the board of directors of the Herndon Optimist Club and Herndon Recreation, Inc.  She has also served as president of Herndon Youth Soccer and the Herndon Elementary School PTA, and as vice president of the Herndon Middle School PTA.

Hutchinson is executive director and president of the board of directors of the Herndon Dulles Visitor’s Center, a non-profit organization of which she was a founder.  In this role and on behalf of the Town, she serves as a tourism related representative to the Visit Fairfax Marketing Advisory Committee, an advisory group to the Fairfax County Convention and Visitors Corporation comprised of hospitality industry professionals and tourism officials at county sites and attractions. She also serves this group on its Visitor Services Committee. Additionally, Hutchinson serves on Fairfax County’s ‘Virginia 2007’ Community Program Citizen Planning Committee and is co-chair of its Public Information Subcommittee.  She is also co-chair of the Herndon, ‘Virginia 2007’ Community Program Committee and has been appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors as the Dranesville District #2 representative to the county’s History Museum Subcomittees.

Prior to her position with the visitor’s center, Hutchinson had been communications manager for the Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce.

Hutchinson is a graduate of Virginia Computer College and has four grown children.
